The Camp and Displays
Housing is available in a GP Medium tent. Space will be allocated on a first come first serve basis for those that do not wish to set up a tent for the event. The National Guard is also setting up a Medical Tent to handle any real life emergencies should one occur. In addition they are providing a Water Buffalo and will maintain the water supply in two Lister Bags in the camp area.
Portable toilets and shower facilities will be available for your use, near the camp area.
A large Living History encampment area will allow you to display your weapons and equipment.
Remember that WWII veterans attend this event and our displays must be period correct. If you have a good display that you want to show off, this is a prime opportunity to educate the public.
Only WWII era equipment and displays will be allowed within this area from Thursday afternoon until Sunday 3pm. Weapons and other equipment demonstrations will be held in the camp area throughout the weekend. There will also be an area available for an Other Era's Military Vehicle display adjacent to the WWII camp area if you want to bring and display a non- WW2 vehicle.
Set-Up We would like to get the battlefield and encampment set up on Thursday and Friday. Please make every effort to get everything ready by Friday evening. The camp will be open to the public during the day on Friday.
Modern vehicles (POV’s) will only be allowed to enter for unloading and must be cleared out of the area immediately upon unloading. Modern camping for participants will be allowed in a designated area near the WWII encampment. There will be areas allotted for both Allied and Axis camp sites.
The CP tent of the “84th ID Railsplitters” camp will serve as the reenactor registration point. This will be the first camp on your right as you enter the compound. Please stop by to register and inquire about camp layout. We have ample room, approximately 10 acres, for any period correct display.
The Battlefield
The Battle Area-- is located adjacent to the encampment area. Reenactor’s can march or ride in WWII vehicles to and from the battle.
The spectator area-- is well defined with bleachers and some chairs will be reserved for veterans. A Shuttle will provide transportation to and from the parking area to the encampment and battle area for those that would have difficulty walking. The battle area is about an eighth mile from the spectator parking area. Spectators are allowed onto the battlefield afterward to meet the Reenactors and view the battle area. Weapons demonstrations may be presented after the battles while still on the battlefield.
Unit Commanding Officers-- Please check in at the 84th “Railsplitters” CP Tent when you arrive and ask for Greg Alexander, Event Coordinator, to get the latest information and directions. A CO meeting will be held to go over the battle plan.
PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR 2008-- All Reenactors and exhibitors will be required to register. Pre-Registration forms must be signed. If you pre-register by email you will need to stop by The Railsplitters CP tent to sign your forms. Any E.T.O. combat reenactor is welcome to participate in the battle. This includes all American, German, British, Canadian, and Russian. The minimum age for the battle is 18. If a parent or guardian is present on the battlefield, the minimum age for participation is 16. Please register as early as possible.
HRS Safety and Authenticity Rules will apply... Everyone that plans on participating in the event must pass a Safety and Authenticity check. Reenactor’s are required to conform to the uniform and equipment standards of the impression they are portraying. Your participation is welcomed, but your appearance must be correct. Please be prepared prior to the event. Hair must be off the collar and ears. Long hair will not be tolerated. This is a public battle with numerous Veterans present. Be sure your impression is correct.
The Event Coordinator's-- will recruit safety and authenticity representatives from each nationality to inspect their ranks. We must all strive to maintain a 1940’s era appearance at all times while the camp is open to the public, for the entire weekend. HRS Safety and Authenticity Rules will apply...

NEW CAMP AREA AND LARGER BATTLEFIELD FOR 2008
This is the WWII Encampment and Battle area. The images below are of the area selected. The encampment area is good and level. The battle area begins with a sloping hill with the terrain getting rougher in the valley, complete with a creek, a lot of bushes and shrubs. The encampment area will be mowed before the event and the battle area will be brush hogged in any areas that we desire. We will be excavating emplacements and trenches, similar to last years battle area, creating machine gun nests, craters, etc. We will also be placing sandbags and hedgehog's along with other props to enhance the battlefield effect.
CAUTION: WE WILL BE USING A LARGER AMOUNT OF PYROTECHNICS THIS YEAR... AVOID DISTURBING THE WIRING AND UN-EXPLODED PYRO WHEN ON THE BATTLEFIELD!
